"The most joyful and energetic member of my main cast. I've been nothing but happy to work with her through my very first project. She is very talented, capable of bringing my character to life with precision, all while letting herself improvise and have fun in the process. She can be funny or emotional, the sound quality is great, I definitely recommend her!"• Nefariax, Indie Game Developer, Producer
"Vayle was a character I created specifically for Saphira to play as Lyra’s older sister, and I couldn’t be happier with what she brought to the role. I absolutely loved her take on Vayle and the way she delivered the character. She brought a personality and presence to the role that really helped bring the character to life. Saphira was also incredibly adaptable throughout the process, took direction well, and consistently delivered her lines in a timely and professional manner. I’m very grateful to have had her as part of Daggers & Treasures, and I’d absolutely recommend working with her!"• David Ruiz, Creator, Producer, Voice Actor

The Sound of My Story

Saphira Joy is a Black queer woman living in San Diego with her partner and their two tortoiseshell cats, Soyeon and Nikko. They love to nap in her booth whenever it's free, and she's convinced they're secretly rehearsing after hours and building a following on an alias account somewhere. As a kid, Saphira was so cuddly that her family nicknamed her "Bear." Whenever her Dad came home from work, she'd run to the door and give him a big ole bear hug. He still calls her Bear, and these days, while she still gives him bear hugs, she also brings this warmth and love to the mic.Creativity runs in her family. Her Dad sang in a short-lived '80s boy group, her Mom wrote for the Houston Chronicle, and her Grandpa played trumpet on tour with Gladys Knight. Both of her parents were also Marines, so she was raised to show up prepared and follow through on every promise. That mix shaped the artist she is today. Theatre taught her to treat every character the way she treats people: with curiosity, patience, and an open heart. Years in K-12 special education and e-learning design taught her how to reach every kind of listener. As a writer and singer, she hears the music in a script before she records a single line. She gives every line the same care, from a single battle cry to a full-length narration, because the work someone trusts her with deserves nothing less. When she's not recording, you'll find her playing Final Fantasy X (for the hundredth time), Stardew Valley, Tekken, and other video games, crocheting, singing karaoke with friends, catching local theatre, or roleplaying as some form of a bard in a tabletop RPG like Cypher System or Fabula Ultima. She also has a talent for finding a stray sunbeam to nap in alongside her cats.Voice acting has been her way back to herself. It's reconnected her with a world full of wonderful, generous, surprising people. She's grateful for everything this craft has taught her, and even more excited about what's ahead.
